E-commerce website Options
Accepting Credit and Debit Cards
In order to accept credit card payments on your web site you will require one or more of the following:
- E-commerce Web site
- E-commerce Enabled Web Hosting
- SSL Certificate
- Dedicated IP Address
- Third Party Processor
- Internet Merchant Account
- Payment Service Provider(PSP)
E-commerce web site - a web site that allows your customers to view and purchase your products online. ICCM can build a web site to suit your particular requirements
Web Hosting - Our Premier & Business web hosting plan carry enough bandwidth for the majority of e-commerce solutions - this can also be increased on demand.
SSL Certificates and a dedicated IP address - These are necessary to keep your consumer data and your customer transactions secure. We can supply these services and install the certificate on your behalf.
You then have a choice between processing your own payments which requires an Internet Merchant Account together with a PSP or alternatively using a Third Party Processor
Internet Merchant Account - This are operated by banks such as Bank of Ireland or AIB. You can approach your bank directly or use an intermediary company that specialises in setting up merchant accounts. If you already accept Point of Sale or Customer not Present credit card payments you may still need to set up a separate Merchant Account for Online transactions
Payment Service Provider(PSP) - These companies will provide the credit card technology which authorises the transaction with the bank. They process the real time payments and deposit the funds in your account. The two largest in Ireland are:
- Realex Payments
- Elavon (formerly EuroConex)
Third Party Processors - These companies act as a combined Internet Merchant Account and PSP. They accept, authorise and process the transaction on behalf of the ecommerce web site. Examples of these are:
- Paypal
- Worldpay
- ClickBank
- RegSoft
- 2CheckOut
- DigiBuy
